Terms of Use
Last updated: April 23, 2026
These terms are written in plain English. By using My Rider, you agree to them. If you have questions, email us at hello@buildmyrider.com and we’ll explain anything that’s unclear.
1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using the My Rider platform at https://buildmyrider.com (“the Service”), operated by Evolving Story LLC, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
These terms apply to all users of the Service, including consumers who create a rider and business partners who access rider data through our API.
2. What My Rider is
My Rider is a personal preference platform. Consumers build a profile called a “rider” — covering things like coffee order, dietary needs, travel preferences, morning rituals, and more. Each rider is assigned a unique My Rider Number (“MRN”, format MYR-XXXXXX).
Users share their MRN with businesses (hotels, restaurants, airlines, car dealerships, and others) ahead of their arrival. Businesses use our API to look up rider data by MRN so they can prepare a personalized experience.
We do not guarantee that any business will act on your rider. The Service facilitates the sharing of your preferences — what businesses do with that information is up to them.
3. Consumer accounts
Creating a rider. You must be at least 18 years old to create a My Rider account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
You own your data. The preference information you enter into your rider belongs to you. My Rider does not sell your data to advertising networks or share it with anyone you have not explicitly authorized.
You control your MRN. Sharing your MRN with a business is always your choice. Only businesses that possess an MRN you have shared with them can look up your rider. We do not distribute your MRN or rider data to any business without your action.
Family preferences. If you include preferences for your children, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian and that you have the right to provide this information on their behalf.
4. Business partner accounts
Subscription required. Businesses must subscribe to a paid plan ($29, $99, or $299 per month depending on tier) and agree to these terms to access the My Rider API. All payments are processed by Stripe.
Acceptable use of rider data. As a business partner, you may use rider data solely to personalize the experience of the consumer who shared their MRN with you. You agree that you will not:
- Resell, redistribute, or license rider data to any third party.
- Store rider data beyond what is operationally necessary for a single visit or engagement.
- Use rider data to contact users outside the context of the My Rider platform or the service they booked with you.
- Combine rider data with other data sources to build independent profiles on consumers.
- Use rider data for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than fulfilling preferences.
API keys are confidential. Your API key grants access to sensitive consumer preference data. Keep it secret. Do not share it publicly, embed it in client-side code, or transfer it to third parties. If your key is compromised, revoke it immediately and notify us at hello@buildmyrider.com.
Subscription changes and cancellation. You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time. Access continues until the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial months.
5. Prohibited uses
You may not use My Rider to:
- Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the platform by automated means.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service.
- Impersonate another user or submit a false MRN to access someone else’s rider data.
- Use rider data to discriminate against any person on the basis of race, religion, national origin, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or its infrastructure.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or network connected to My Rider.
- Violate any applicable law or regulation.
6. Intellectual property
My Rider owns the platform. The My Rider name, logo, platform design, software, and all associated intellectual property are owned by My Rider. Nothing in these terms grants you a license to use our trademarks or reproduce our platform.
You own your preference data. The content you enter into your rider — your preferences, rituals, and notes — is yours. By submitting it, you grant My Rider a limited license to store and transmit that data solely as necessary to operate the Service (for example, returning your rider to a business you authorized). We claim no ownership over your personal preference information.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. We do not guarantee that any business partner will read, act on, or even receive your rider data. Using My Rider does not entitle you to any particular level of service from any business.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, My Rider and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunities — arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $50 USD.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.
9. Termination
By you. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon deletion, your rider data will be removed from our active systems within 30 days, subject to legal retention obligations.
By us. We may suspend or terminate your account — without prior notice in serious cases — if you violate these terms, engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior, or pose a risk to other users or the platform. For business partners, we may also terminate access if you misuse rider data, regardless of whether the violation causes measurable harm.
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimer of warranties, limitation of liability, and governing law) will survive.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
If you disagree with a change, your remedy is to stop using the Service and delete your account before the effective date of the new terms.
